Protocol envisages training small Angolan businesspeople to access banking

The National Institute for Support to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (INAPEM) and the Angolan Association of Banks (ABANC) signed a protocol intended to expand the skills of small business owners to develop projects and access financing.

The signatories of the cooperation protocol believe that it will contribute to making projects in this business segment viable with banks.

"This protocol aims to create a permanent platform for contact and consultation between INAPEM and ABANC, to reach financial institutions operating in Angola", said the president of the board of directors of the public institution, João Nkosi.

According to him, the signed agreement responds to the difficulties in accessing financing for small business owners and entrepreneurs, especially young people with technological and industrial projects, at the level of the 18 national provinces.

“We, with this instrument, will in the coming days trigger concrete actions with banks, with emphasis on the possibility of making our services available so that entrepreneurs can access financing with less risk”, he stressed.

He also guaranteed that INAPEM will update the dynamics of formalizing the credit process with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and the Technical Support and Assistance Unit for Entrepreneurs to “support credible projects in credit conformation”.

Mário Nascimento, president of ABANC, also highlighted the importance of the protocol, saying that the instrument must create conditions, from a competence and institutional point of view, for access to banking.

“So that our businesspeople can have more capacity, more skills to talk and have, together with the banks, what financing and financial support they need so that they can take their projects forward”, he highlighted.
