Festival Caixa Fado returns to Luanda with Camané, Cuca Roseta and Gisela João

The Caixa Fado’23 Festival returns to Angola in October, after being interrupted due to the pandemic, with international fadistas such as Camané, Cuca Roseta and Gisela João, joined by Angolan artists such as Pérola, Selda and Toti Sa’med, among others.

The poster for the event, promoted by Banco Caixa Geral Angola and celebrating its 30th anniversary, aims to celebrate Fado, intangible heritage of humanity and brings together Portuguese fado singers and Angolan artists from different musical styles.

"This year's cast features an impressive array of talent, promising an unforgettable experience, with renowned national artists Pérola, Selda, Toti Sa'med, Bevy Jackson and international Portuguese fado singers Camané, Cuca Roseta, Marco Rodrigues, Gisela João , Ricardo Ribeiro and Lenita Gentil", says the organization in a statement.

The festival, which "promotes the universality of music and encourages the cultural exchange that the Portuguese language unifies between Angola and Portugal", will take place on the 20th of October, at the Belas Conference Centre, in Luanda.

"The 6th edition of the Caixa Fado Festival is of particular importance, not only because it is the return of the Festival, but also because it celebrates our 30th anniversary and this is yet another moment to reinforce our commitment to Angolan society and to culture", underlined the chairman of Caixa Angola's executive committee, João Plácido Pires, in his presentation of the festival.

Tickets can be purchased at Banco Caixa Geral Angola branches or on digital platforms and cost between 30,000 and 50,000 kwanzas.
