Next academic year starts in September

The official opening of the next academic year (2022/2023) takes place next month, on September 5th, with classes starting the next day.


According to the new national school calendar, the school year for pre-school, primary and secondary education officially opens on the 5th of the next month, with classes starting a day later, that is, on the 6th of September. The academic year for these teachings is scheduled to end on July 28, 2023.

According to Executive Decree No. 305/22, of 5 August, quoted by Jornal de Angola, the calendar also provides for national exams of the first generalization phase in the 6th, 9th and 12th grades, between 14th and 16th June 2023, writes the same newspaper.

The special tests, appeal and posting of the guidelines will take place from the 20th to the 24th of July.

The technical-professional secondary education classes will end earlier, on the 18th of July.

According to the document, quoted by Jornal de Angola, the Professional Aptitude Test, to which final year students (13th grade) are subject, who will also take part in a curricular internship during the academic year, will be carried out between May and July of the next year.

The next school year will have three periods, as well as seven days set aside for assessments. The calendar also defines two interruptions between quarters, two weeks of stoppage due to Christmas and three days for Easter, writes Jornal de Angola.

A two-day break is also defined because of Carnival.
