UNITA leader believes in the release of results the next day

The leader of the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA) said this Sunday that he expects the election results to be announced the day after the elections, because there is technology that allows transparency and speed in the counting process.

:

"I hope Angola can follow the train of other countries, there is no reason to extend these questions, extend anxiety, because we have the technology and the capacity to have results in a few hours and at least 24 hours later", said Adalberto Costa Júnior, in an interview with Lusa, who asked for the intervention of Justice in the electoral process.

"There are a series of processes that are shelved, there are a series of appeals, including this afternoon, made to the Constitutional Court to bring the organization of this process to Angolan law", accused Costa Júnior, who repeated challenges to the National Electoral Commission (CNE) already made this Sunday by other leaders.

"Publish the lists of all voters on the electoral roll", because, "apparently, those lists published by the voice of the CNE president are not the rolls", the leader of UNITA, the party that has most criticized procedural issues, told Lusa. which, in his opinion, may jeopardize the transparency of the process and allow the filling of ballot boxes with votes of the dead or abstentionists.

"Let's celebrate democracy", challenged Costa Júnior, addressing the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), visibly confident that these elections will signal a change in the management of the country, if "the law is respected".

As for the 25th, the day after the elections, he said: "We will accompany the country that will be celebrating the victory of the alternation, which is exactly the dream of all Angolans, the hope of a very broad majority in this country that is tired of poverty, exclusion, deviance and lack of respect for the independence of institutions".

An example of this lack of balance of power is the fact that with just one bulletin Angolans elect "two organs of sovereignty", since the President is, automatically, the head of the list of the most voted party.

Therefore, Costa Júnior wants a "Constitution that serves the Angolans and ends this issue of the single party, which holds the country's institutions hostage".

Angola goes to the polls on 24 August to choose a new President of the Republic and new representatives in the National Assembly.
