US diplomatic representation to São Tomé and Príncipe moves to Angola

The diplomatic representation of the United States of America (USA) to São Tomé and Príncipe is in the process of moving to the Angolan embassy in Luanda, the US State Department announced this Friday.

:

In a statement, the US executive said that this change in the diplomatic representation, previously stationed in Libreville, Gabon, where the São Tomé and Príncipe embassy is located, is due "to the long-standing cultural, linguistic and economic ties of São Tomé and Príncipe with Angola".

The US embassies in Angola and São Tomé and Príncipe are both led by Ambassador Tulinabo Mushingi.

"The US ambassador to Angola and Sao Tome and Principe, Tulinabo S. Mushingi, presented his credentials to President Carlos Vila Nova of Sao Tome and Principe on 10 August," the State Department said in a statement.

"Ambassador Mushingi and US embassy staff in Luanda look forward to working with the people of Sao Tome and Principe to advance our common goals of peace, prosperity and good governance," it added.

In addition, the US Government guarantees that it is "looking forward" to partnering with São Tomé and Príncipe in mutual regional objectives, such as ocean conservation and maritime security.
