"The arrest resulted from an operation by our counter-intelligence. We had information about the characteristics of the suspected individual and, in the first verification, nothing was found. So we had to submit the individual to a second evaluation, already in the hospital, where the capsules in your stomach", said Hilário Lole.

The individual, 37 years old, had just landed at Maputo International Airport, on a flight from Brazil.

"The work we are carrying out makes us believe that this is a single drug trafficking network", explained the Sernic spokesman, adding that this is the fourth case of arrests for drug trafficking at an airport this year.

Mozambique is identified by several international organizations as a transit corridor for the international traffic of narcotics destined for Europe and the United States of America, mainly heroin from Asia.
