According to accounts made by Mercado, based on data from Global Petrolprices - which analyzed the average prices in 150 countries and in more than 250 cities around the world - the podium is composed of Venezuela, Iran and Angola. According to the figures advanced by the newspaper, Venezuela is the country with the lowest gasoline price, being sold at an average value of 12.8 kwanzas.

The silver goes to Iran, where gasoline costs about 38.3 kwanzas. Bronze goes to Angola, where the price of gasoline is around 160 kwanzas.

Globally, the average price of gasoline is around 764.32 kwanzas.

Comparing numbers in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region, it is possible to state that Angola is the country with the lowest gasoline price.

For diesel, Angola is the fifth country with the lowest price in the world (135 kwanzas). The diesel podium is also led by Venezuela.

According to the Market, the positions occupied by the country are a result of fuel subsidies. Observing the average global price of gasoline, without the subsidies, the price per liter of gasoline would increase from the current 160 kwanzas to about 600 kwanzas. That is, the government pays about 400 kwanzas per liter of gasoline. Without the application of subsidies, Angola would occupy a position above the 50th place in the table, but would still have a price lower than the world average.
