Government approves Hydrocarbon Exploration Strategy by 2025

The Council of Ministers approved this Wednesday the Angola 2020-2025 Hydrocarbon Exploitation Strategy, which aims to intensify activity in order to ensure the continuous expansion of knowledge of the country's oil potential.

:

The subject was this Wednesday considered at the 8th ordinary session of the Council of Ministers, chaired by the Head of State, João Lourenço.

The Hydrocarbon Exploration Strategy for the next five years is based on four pillars, two of which are the availability and accessibility to the areas that constitute Angola's sedimentary basins for research and assessment activity, and the expansion of geological knowledge and access to oil and natural gas resources.

The remaining pillars are intended to ensure the successful implementation of the General Strategy for the Allocation of Petroleum Concessions in Angola, and the intensification of research and evaluation in the concessions and free areas of the Angolan sedimentary basins.

The main objective of this strategy is to intensify hydrocarbon exploration activity in the country to ensure the continuous expansion of knowledge of oil potential, including unconventional reservoirs, for the replacement of reserves and the consequent mitigation of the decline and stabilization of oil production.
