The bus, carrying more than 50 passengers, skidded off the road and plunged into a cliff.
According to the Angop news agency, rescue teams from the provinces of Huíla and Namibe have already recovered 15 bodies and 21 injured people, most in critical condition, who were transported to the Lubango Central Hospital, 35 kilometers from the accident site.
A statement from the Namibe provincial government emphasized that the competent authorities are working "tirelessly at this time to provide immediate medical assistance to the injured, identify all victims, and contact the affected families."
One of the victims is missionary Rita Paulo, who was traveling from Lubango to Moçâmedes, heading to the JOCUM (Youth With a Mission) center in Munhino, where she was collaborating on Bible translation. The missionary dedicated her life to the expansion of the gospel and the spiritual inclusion of people without access to the scriptures.
