According to a statement from the Malanje provincial government, that VerAngola had access to, the project should serve as a driving force for agricultural productivity at the regional level.
"The construction of new agricultural infrastructure in the municipalities of Malanje, Luquembo, and Cacuso next year promises to significantly boost agricultural productivity in the region," the statement reads.
Speaking during the presentation of the Carrinho group's Strategic Agricultural Infrastructure Project to the Malanje provincial government, Samuel Candundo, non-executive director of the Carrinho group, "highlighted the construction of high-tech silos with storage capacities of 20,000, 100,000, and 120,000 tons, designed for grain preservation."
According to the director, this new equipment will significantly increase "national grain storage capacity, promote local production, and reduce post-harvest losses."
He also considered that the project will have a positive impact on communities.
"The project will have a positive impact on the lives of communities through the establishment of partnerships with local producers and connections with regional and national industries," he said, as quoted in the statement.
Malanje Governor Marcos Nhunga applauded the initiative, "considering it fundamental for the valorization of local production."
"This investment will significantly improve the conditions for grain production, conservation, and transportation, avoiding waste," he emphasized.
"In addition to Malanje, the project includes the installation of silo and warehouse centers in five other provinces: Bié, Cuanza Sul, Huambo, Huíla, and Luanda. The grain terminal will be built in Benguela province, in the municipality of Lobito," the statement reads.
Currently, the statement says, Malanje province represents approximately 18 percent of the "national grain storage capacity, with emphasis on the large farms of the Capanda Agroindustrial Hub."
According to official data, the country "has 73 vertical silo infrastructures, with a total static capacity of 964,880 tons of grain".
