Higher Polytechnic Institute of Ondjiva will cost more than 46 billion. First stone has already been laid

The Government will invest more than 46 billion kwanzas to build the Higher Polytechnic Institute of Ondjiva of the Mandume Ya Ndemufayo University (Cunene), whose first stone of construction and equipping the academic infrastructure of the aforementioned institute was laid this Wednesday.

According to Angop, the project, whose investment will exceed 46 billion kwanzas, will last 30 months.

In statements to the press, cited in a statement from the government of Cunene, to which VerAngola had access, the Secretary of State for Higher Education, Eugénio Alves da Silva, stated that the "act is a historic milestone that represents an important step by the Executive for the development of higher education in the province, with the creation of conditions that will provide training and qualification opportunities for young students in the province of Cunene and the country in general".

Gerdina Didalelwa, governor of the province of Cunene, who was also present at the laying of the first stone ceremony, informed, cited by Angop, that the event takes place within the scope of Cunene's 54th anniversary, celebrated this Wednesday, adding that, in her view, the project will help improve teachers' working conditions and increase access to higher education at the local level.

Also speaking on the occasion was Sebastião António, rector of Mandume Ya Ndemufayo University, who highlighted that future structures will be very important for the province, highlighting that the current installation does not provide adequate working conditions.

According to the rector, the future surroundings will house several buildings focused on activities related to teaching, scientific research, administration, management, etc.

The company responsible for the project, in the voice of its general director, promised to meet the defined deadlines. Duarte, general manager of China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), guaranteed the quality of work, which provided 1200 jobs for local youth.

According to a statement from the Cunene government, the facilities will be built on a gross area of ​​29,321 square meters.

They will have "a set of modern facilities that will provide a good teaching and learning environment, including classrooms, laboratories, library and amphitheater, as well as administrative offices and dormitories for 500 students and 25 teachers".

"With this, the Mandume Ya Ndemufayo University Ondjiva Polytechnic Institute will soon have decent facilities to continue to offer and expand its training offering in the areas of Education, Agriculture, Health and Management, with the aim of producing highly qualified professionals and competitive for the job market", says the statement.

In addition to the provincial governor and the Secretary of State, the rector of the Mandume Ya Ndemufayo University, Sebastião António, were also present at the ceremony, as well as officials from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation and the government of Cunene, members of the academic community and representatives of civil society.

According to Angop, the Polytechnic Institute of Ondjiva was created in 2009, the year from which it has been in operation, with more than 2000 students attending courses such as biology, agronomy, etc.
