According to a statement from CAF, to which VerAngola had access, a total of 48 African teams, including Angola, will seek to qualify for the 35th edition of CAN, which will take place in Morocco from December 2025.

The qualifiers begin in September this year and run until November, with Angola meeting Niger, Ghana and Sudan on the field.

In addition to the 'Palancas Negras', other Portuguese-speaking teams are also in the race for qualification, such as Mozambique and Guinea-Bissau who are in the same group (group I) together with Mali and Eswatini, or Cape Verde which, according to CAF, was in group C, where it will cross paths with Egypt, Mauritania and Botswana.

CAN 2025 will take place from December 21st of next year until January 18th, 2026.

The current title holder is Côte d'Ivoire, who defeated Nigeria in the final, held earlier this year.
