According to the Secretary of State for Labor and Social Security, Pedro Filipe, with the entry into operation, in August, of the National Employment Fund, all graduates in public institutes will benefit from this scholarship, which, in 2026, should be extended for private centers.
“We understand that we need to encourage young people to use our vocational training centers, but, more than that, we need to reduce the number of dropouts and the number of failures that, unfortunately, we have still witnessed within the scope of the national vocational training system. ", he said.
According to the general director of the National Institute of Employment and Professional Training (Inefop), Manuel Mbangui, in the last training cycle, close to 100 thousand young people were trained, and the dropout rate was “the biggest problem”, standing by 15 percent.
Manuel Mbangui said that young people dropping out are motivated by social and economic causes, in particular because, in certain locations in the country, there are seasonal activities, such as charcoal production.
“In Malanje, during the period when young people should be graduating, there is an increase in charcoal production and they give up to dedicate themselves to this activity,” said the official, stressing that the subsidy can prevent the loss of income for graduates.
The Secretary of State highlighted that the country needs electricians, electrical installation technicians, civil locksmith technicians, plumbers, areas in which “a lot of foreign labor” has been used.
In the first half of the year, “a very high demand” for Inefop services was recorded, with more than 183 thousand requests for professional training, with more than 80 thousand trainees enrolled, he said.
