Presidency expresses condolences to families of accident victims in Bié

President João Lourenço lamented the accident that caused 13 deaths and 36 injuries on Tuesday in the province of Bié and conveyed “deep condolences” to the families of the deceased.

In a message shared on his social networks, the chief executive expressed his wishes for a speedy recovery for those receiving medical care and assured that the authorities “will continue to pay full attention to the victims of the regrettable road accident that bereaved numerous families”.

In an updated report, the Ministry of the Interior said that the accident, which occurred in the city of Cuito, Bié province, on the bridge over the Cuito river, which connects the Cangote and Camalaia neighborhoods, caused at least 13 deaths and 36 injuries.

Seven people lost their lives at the scene of the accident and the rest at Dr. Walter Strangway Hospital, where the injured were transported

The accident occurred when a three-wheeled motorbike (“kaleluia”), which was traveling with eight occupants, allegedly speeding, crashed and overturned.

The population rushed to the scene to help the victims, but shortly afterwards a vehicle that was being pulled by another, using a rope that broke, came loose and continued to run wild at great speed, hitting several people who were at the scene. .
