João Lourenço's agenda in Bié marked by a meeting with the provincial government

A meeting with the government of Bié, a visit to the Vinevala Farm and witnessing the beginning of the harvest of wheat produced on a large scale on that farm, among other activities, mark the two-day working day of the President of the Republic in Bié.

This Thursday, the second and last day of João Lourenço's visit to the province, the head of state was at Vinevala Farm, where he witnessed the beginning of the wheat harvest, which is produced on a large scale in that agricultural enterprise, located in the municipality of Chinguar, a harvest of around 15 thousand tons of wheat is expected, cultivated on 5080 hectares, contrary to the 3000 planted in the previous campaign.

On the occasion, the President of the Republic visited the agricultural enterprise, which covers around 15 thousand hectares and which, in the last agricultural season, recorded a production of more than 18 thousand tons of various products, such as wheat, reindeer potatoes, peas, pineapple, tomatoes, soybeans, corn and beans, writes Angop.

Furthermore, the head of state's agenda also included a visit to the factory dedicated to transforming wheat into flour, maintained by Vinevala Farm. Capable of producing 60 tons per day, the factory could be fully operational in September, despite having already been operating on an experimental basis since the end of the last quarter of last year.

However, the news doesn't stop there. The farm plans to put into operation the pasta, bakery and seed processing units this year, to complement the corn industry already operating in Bié.

In terms of jobs, according to Angop, by September, the agricultural enterprise expects to reach 5000 jobs, both direct and indirect, compared to the current around 4000, due to the growth in investment in the cultivation of wheat and other goods.

Also this Thursday, the President of the Republic's agenda foresees a trip to Chipeta, where he will assess the operation of Cerâmica da Paz and the Seedling Production Center, whose projects are managed by the Social Security Institute of the Angolan Armed Forces.

On the first day of the working visit, marked on Wednesday, the President of the Republic noted agriculture in Bié, through a visit to the Agricultural Production Fair.

"As the first act of the program established for the working visit to the province of Bié, the President of the Republic covered, in an exhaustive manner, the Agricultural Production Fair expressly set up in the city of Cuito", informs CIPRA, in a statement, to which the VerAngola had access.

"The nine municipalities of the province displayed their productive potential, which the Head of State appreciated, receiving specific explanations at the stands he visited", points out CIPRA, adding that cereals, including rice and corn, beans, fruits and ginguba "they were prominent in the sample that the province of Bié prepared for this occasion".

On Wednesday night, João Lourenço held a meeting with the provincial government. Guided by the President of the Republic, the meeting served to assess, globally, the situation in the territory.

On the occasion, the provincial governor, Pereira Alfredo, "outlined the picture of each of the fundamental sectors of the socioeconomic life of the district, highlighting gains and challenges, having been supported by the ministers of the areas concerned, for clarifications", says another note from CIPRA, to which VerAngola had access.

At the end of the meeting, it was noted that, over the last six years, Bié has registered considerable processes, especially in the social sector, which has contributed positively to the well-being of the population.

According to Angop, the meeting presented the memorandum on the main results of government activity, carried out between 2018 and the first half of this year, the strategic and structural guidelines established to promote the balanced and harmonious growth of the province and ensure the community well-being.

One of the examples is related to the education sector, with 97 schools having been opened and made available to the community, totaling 826 new classrooms and 97 thousand students benefiting. Furthermore, the number of teachers also grew from 12,463 to 16,689.

Another example of advances was noted in the health field, where 21 new health units were built and opened. 4819 professionals also joined the sector, in various areas, thus increasing the service capacity in the province.

The x-ray of the province's situation was rigorous, with an assessment of the progress and challenges in various sectors, such as higher education, health, agriculture, industry and commerce, energy and water, among many others.
