"We are working so that the case goes to court, it hasn't gone yet, but everything is ready for that", said, this Wednesday, Pitta Grós, questioned by journalists about the process involving the former president of the TdC, Exalgina Gamboa, at the end of a meeting with a delegation from the SADC Administrative Court, in Luanda.

The former judge president of the Court of Auditors submitted her resignation from her position in March last year, shortly after being accused of corruption.

Exalgina Gambôa and her son Hailé da Cruz were accused of crimes of extortion and corruption, an investigation process was opened "in reaction to public information and complaints".

The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, had already announced that he had invited Exalgina Gambôa to resign from her position on February 21st due to the various "occurrences" involving her.

The Ministry of Finance recently asked Exalgina Gambôa, who resigned from her position due to suspicions of corruption, to return the office and the Jaguar car that had been assigned to her.

In a document to which Lusa had access, at the beginning of July, dated February 6, 2024, the director of the Finance Minister's office, Polonga Fernandes, states that a function house had been made available to Exalgina Gambôa in the Privilege Residence Condominium, as well as a Jaguar brand vehicle for personal use, within the scope of the privileges reserved for the status of judge advisor president of the Court of Auditors.

The case was reported first-hand by the Maka Angola website, run by activist and journalist Rafael Marques de Morais, who last year called for an investigation into the exorbitant expenses of the former TdC president.

Exalgina Gambôa ended up being named as a defendant in a case on suspicion of corruption and left under pressure from the President of the Republic.
