Federation says pilot who died in accident chose “strange” trajectory

The Angolan Motor Sports Federation (FADM) says that pilot Wilson Cardeau, who died in an accident on Saturday, in Benguela, chose a “strange” trajectory and created a commission of inquiry to determine the causes of death.

:

Biker Wilson Cardeau "Mais Filly", 34 years old, was the victim of an accident during the last free practice session of the Grande Prêmio Cardoso Albernaz, which took place at Circuito Santos Pera.

Wilson Cardeau was assisted at the scene and transported to the Central Hospital of Benguela, but ended up dying due to serious injuries.

The FADM revealed, in a statement, that the accident took place on the back straight at the entrance to the [Nacional de Ombaka] stadium, considering the chosen trajectory "strange"

"The pilot, in a strange way, chose an inappropriate trajectory to make the curve, which made the experts who are investigating the accident consider it strange because he was an experienced pilot", he stressed.

According to the FADM, a first attempt was made to brake at 80 kilometers/hour, followed by an emergency braking at around 220 kilometers/hour, which activated the ABS, with the gear engaged in sixth gear, "another abnormal situation ".

At this point, the pilot will have tried to make the turn, having been projected in flight by three meters high and seven meters away, causing serious internal injuries that led to his death.

The FADM has appointed, however, a commission of inquiry with nine elements, which must present within 72 hours the results of the causes of death of Wilson Cardeau.

In a condolence note quoted by Radio Nacional de Angolal, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Palmira Barbosa, regretted the loss and said that "Mais Filly" was considered one of the most accomplished pilots of the class in Angola, "whose premature disappearance leaves a void that will hardly be filled".
