João Lourenço was received in Gaborone by his counterpart, Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi.

This Thursday morning, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX) disclosed that the head of Angolan diplomacy was already in Gaborone to join the multisectoral delegation that is on a working visit, with a view to strengthening relations between the two countries.

"Angola and Botswana decided to give new impetus to the historic bilateral cooperation relations, after a relative apathy registered over the last few years", reads the MIREX communiqué.

The details of the plan to revitalize bilateral ties will be concluded during João Lourenço's visit, which was scheduled between the 21st and 23rd of this month, according to the same press release.

According to MIREX, the two Member States of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) intend to update their General Cooperation Agreement, signed in February 2006, and sign new legal instruments, "with a view to deepening the partnership and widening its scope".
