Namibe wins aviary capable of producing 21,000 eggs per day

An aviary with the capacity to produce 21,000 eggs a day was recently inaugurated in the province of Namibe. Located in Giraul de Baixo, the development provided, at this stage, more than 30 jobs.

According to a statement from the Provincial Government of Namibe, to which VerAngola had access, the project, which is also capable of raising more than 20,000 laying hens, was inaugurated last Friday.

"An aviary with the capacity to produce 21,000 eggs per day and to raise more than 20,000 laying hens, was inaugurated" on Friday, "in the municipality of Moçâmedes, in a ceremony witnessed by the provincial governor, Archer Mangueira", reads in the note.

"The private initiative project had an execution period of two years, having been financed by Banco BAI, within the scope of PRODESI, under the Notice 10 financing line", adds the statement.

At the inauguration ceremony, Archer Mangueira "recognized the courage of those responsible" for the project, as the project was born "in a period in which it is intended to reduce imports and increase national production".

Quoted in the communiqué, the provincial governor said that carrying out this project "is a demonstration of what can be done in the process of diversifying the economy".

"The implementation of this project is a demonstration of what can be done in the process of diversifying the economy, we have agricultural and livestock potential, it is necessary to have the capacity to transform potential into an effective product. We want to continue to develop national production, diversify the economy and create conditions for the population to consume the products of the province", he indicated.

Adriano Silva, responsible for the aviary, considered that the undertaking will contribute to "improving the population's diet", and also informed that the project, at this stage, created a total of 35 jobs (15 women and 20 men).

According to the person in charge, the infrastructure will have "continuity, with the forecast of building four more breeding and rearing facilities for 15 thousand chickens each, construction of a slaughterhouse for the slaughter of 1500 chickens (...) per day and a refrigerated chamber for conservation", says the statement.

In addition, he said that they already have an incubator on the premises: "We already have an incubator on our premises with the capacity to incubate twenty thousand chicks to contribute to the development of our province".

It should be noted that the inauguration ceremony was also attended by several individuals, notably the provincial deputy governor for the Political, Social and Economic Sector, Anica de Sousa and the municipal administrator of Moçâmedes, Abel Kapitango, the note also indicates.
