The senior men's national handball team entered the African Championship of the sport on the 'right foot'. Angola made its debut with a victory in the competition, beating Zambia 53-24.

Considered the favourite, the national team lived up to that condition, and at the end of the first half it already beat its Zambian counterpart with a difference of 13 points (24-11).

After the break, the national team only managed the scoreboard, allowing the younger players some time on the pitch, writes Angop.

After the final whistle of the match – which took place at the International Sport Hall pavilion, in Egypt – the scoreboard signaled the victory of Angola, which won with a difference of 29 points (53-24).

Edvaldo Ferreira "Moreno" was considered the man of the match (MVP), with eight goals.

Angola returns to the field on Tuesday. The game will be against Senegal.

The national team is part of group D, which also includes teams from Zambia, Senegal and Democratic Congo.

It should be noted that in the last edition of the championship, which took place in January 2020 in Tunisia, Angola ranked fourth.

The competition will take place in Cairo, Egypt, from the 11th to the 18th of July.
