Francisco José da Cruz, Angola's ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union, quoted by Angop, admitted that the Angolan's appointment is in line with the relevance of the country's plan and its active behavior with regard to conservation, management and conflict resolution on the continent, enabling Africa's economic evolution and inclusion.
The choice of the new Chief of Staff of the FAEA, according to a statement, to which Angop had access, is in line with the final declaration of the Extraordinary Summit on Terrorism and Unconstitutional Changes of Government in Africa - held in May, in Malabo, in Equatorial Guinea.
The document establishes the instrumentation of the FAEA "without further delay", as well as the strengthening of "coordination with the Regional Economic Communities/Regional Mechanisms on its use".
The conception of a Unit to Combat Terrorism is among the FAEA's main works, according to the statement, quoted by Angop.
It should be noted that, since February, António Lamas was holding the position of military adviser to the Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security of the continental organisation, Bankole Adeoye. His curriculum also includes the functions of Brigade Commander, Deputy Chief of the Operations Directorate of the National Air Force and Head of the Anti-Air Defense Directorate of the National Air Force of Angola, among others.
