Endiama and private companies invest more than four billion in agro-industrial project

Endiama, a state-owned diamond company, and RGS Holding, a private company, are going to invest more than US$4 billion in agro-industrial projects in three provinces in eastern Angola.

In his speech, at the signing of the agreement, the Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino de Azevedo, said that it is not Endiama's intention "to deviate from its primary social object, which is the diamond activity".

According to Diamantino de Azevedo, Endiama intends with this to assume a historic responsibility, which should have been assumed many years ago.

"The economic activity in the provinces of Lundas is very dependent on the diamond industry and the activity of mineral resources is always a non-renewable activity, that is, with the advance of production we deplete the reserves and in the future we may no longer have this activity for this reason. reason, but also for economic reasons at a world level", said Azevedo, in his intervention broadcast by public radio.

In turn, the chairman of the Board of Directors of Endiama, Ganga Júnior, said that this is not exclusively about agricultural production, although this is the main focus in the diamond-producing province of Lunda Norte, with the production of palm.

Ganga Júnior said that in the provinces of Lunda Sul and Moxico fruit trees and afforestation trees of significant economic value are the focus and that, interim, the production of food products that are part of the basic food basket is also contemplated.
The general director of RGC Holding, Mohamed Rajal, said that the project will reach up to 260,000 direct jobs, with an impact on households of almost 1.6 million inhabitants.
According to the businessman, 165,000 jobs will be guaranteed in the agricultural part alone, as well as the industrial and services part.
