At 51, the Portuguese-Angolan coach moves to the 'green red' emblem, after having managed to maintain Vitória de Setúbal at the end of the season, in which he also coached Boavista.

In his journey in Portugal, he also has passages in clubs such as Desportivo das Aves, Arouca, Belenenses, União de Leiria, Portimonense and Estrela de Amadora, having already worked in Madeira, between the seasons 2004/05 and 2006/07, in Portosantense and Pontassolense.

Abroad, Lito Vidigal was coach of his native country, Angola, trained Al Ittihad Tripoli, from Libya, AEL Limassol, from Cyprus, and Maccabi Tel Aviv, from Israel.

The island team has a new coach, after José Gomes signed the Almería Andalusians until the beginning of the week until 2021, to play in the 'play-off' of the Spanish Liga.

Marítimo finished I Liga in 11th place, with 39 points, the same score he had made in the 2018/19 season championship.
