On Tuesday, the minister of guardianship, Silvia Lutucuta, announced that the health authorities would go ahead with carrying out some 6000 serological tests in the markets among other "risk areas of large conglomerates", to gather information on the current situation of the pandemic.

The Minister of Health accompanied the mass test, together with the governor of Luanda province, Joana Lina, indicating that a rapid serological test was used, approved by the U.S. regulatory agency (Food and Drug Administration) and already validated by the World Health Organization.

Quoted in a statement from Minsa, Silvia Lutucuta explained that "when testing is done it does not mean that the person has the active disease, but that they have had contact with the coronavirus and have immunity," and in positive cases a collection is made to confirm the result through a molecular-based test (RT-PCR).

Angola has 396 cases of covid-19 of which 22 have resulted in deaths.

The covid-19 pandemic has already caused more than 544,000 deaths and infected more than 11.85 million people in 196 countries and territories, according to a balance sheet made by the French agency AFP.
