Cabinda independentists invite minister to visit military bases

The Cabinda State Liberation Front-Armed Forces of Cabinda (FLEC-FAC) welcomed what it said was the recognition of the "existence of war" by the Minister of State, Pedro Sebastião, who invited him to visit "the military bases".

:

The independence movement reacted to the statements by the Minister of State and Head of the Security House of the President of the Republic who, on Wednesday, rejected situations of instability in the territory, saying that he lives an “effective peace”, despite “groups that can make either action ”.

The general also said that the news from Cabinda on social media did not correspond to the truth, leading the independence activists to invite Pedro Sebastião “to visit one of the military bases of FLEC-FAC in the interior of Cabinda and far from the borders”.

The separatists also promise to "guarantee the security" of the general during his stay in Cabinda and launch an appeal to the population to abstain "from any manifestation of hostility" against Pedro Sebastião "for being one of the representatives of the colonial power that occupies Cabinda" .

In the statement, signed by the spokesman of the General Staff of the FAC, General António do Rosário Luciano, the movement salutes Pedro Sebastião's “moment of lucidity” when he “acknowledged the existence of the war”, honoring “the bereaved Angolan families ”By Angolan soldiers who died in combat.

He also stresses that the general "demonstrated ignorance of the reality of the dimension of the war", a "gap" that he intends to correct, inviting Pedro Sebastião to learn about the reality, visiting the military.

On Wednesday, during the epidemiological assessment of the covid-19, Pedro Sebastião, who is also coordinator of the multisectoral commission for preventing and fighting the disease, answered questions related to conflicts in the province.

"From time to time, very rarely, here and there groups may appear that can do one or another action, not an organized action as such, the guerrillas have the particularity that it is so quickly stopped as to create a moment of instability" , he stated.

In the case of Cabinda, he added, the news released by social networks "are things that do not correspond to the truth" because "there is an effective peace in that country of our country".

Pedro Sebastião pointed out that, just as they appear in the capital of the country or in other parts of the territory, “one or another group of criminals who develop one or the other action”, in Cabinda this possibility may also arise.

"Hence, considering instability goes a long way," he concluded.

The province of Cabinda, where most of the country's oil reserves are concentrated, is not contiguous with the rest of the territory and, for many years, local leaders have defended independence, alleging an autonomous colonial history of Luanda.
