The victory took place on Sunday. According to Angop, the Angolan won the silver medal in the 49 kg category.

The athlete shone by lifting 150 kg, earning him the silver and consequently Angola's first medal in the world competition.

At 31 years old, 'Manrena' now has the second medal in his career, after winning the bronze medal in the African championship, held in 2022 in Egypt, writes Angop.

The Angolan is one of three athletes representing the country in this world championship.

"With three athletes — two men and one woman — in the 49 kg, 61 kg and 67 kg categories, Angola enters the scene with a spirit of overcoming and national pride", says the Ministry of Youth and Sports, in a statement to which VerAngola had access.

The world championship takes place from the 17th to the 25th of this month in China.
