In a brief statement, to which VerAngola had access, the provincial government of Lunda Sul said that it was with "deep regret and unpleasant surprise" that they learned of Chihuissa's death.
"With deep regret and unpleasant surprise, the provincial government of Lunda Sul and the population in general learned of the unexpected death of the renowned professor, Francisco Sozinho Chihuissa, former provincial governor, between 1999 and 2003, which occurred in Spain, victim of illness", the note reads.
The provincial government also expresses "deep condolences to the bereaved family".
The MPLA provincial committee in Lunda Sul also expressed dismay at the death of the former provincial governor.
"The MPLA provincial committee in Lunda Sul learned, with deep sorrow and consternation, of the physical passing of comrade Francisco Sozinho Chihuissa, former first secretary of the party and former provincial governor of Lunda Sul, which occurred in Spain, victim of illness", reads the party's message of condolences, to which VerAngola had access.
"In this time of mourning, the committee sends the bereaved family its deepest feelings of condolence and solidarity, recognizing the invaluable contribution of comrade Chihuissa to the cause of the MPLA and to the development of the province", adds the MPLA in Lunda Sul.
In addition to having held the position of governor of Lunda Sul between 1999 and 2003, Francisco Sozinho Chihuissa was also first secretary of the MPLA in Lunda Sul and a member of the National Assembly.
He was also involved in the world of scouting, having been the first regional leader of Lunda Sul.
In this sense, the scouts of Lunda Sul have also expressed their condolences over the death of Chihuissa.
"The Regional Board of Lunda Sul expresses its deepest condolences for the death of Chief Francisco Sozinho Chihuissa, which occurred in the early hours of 25 June 2025, in the Kingdom of Spain, victim of a prolonged illness", the note reads.
"Born on 24 September 1952, Chief Chihuissa entered the history of Angolan scouting as the first Regional Leader of Lunda Sul, a position he held with distinction between 22 May 1999 and 27 July 2019. He was also a founding member of the National Committee of the AEA, actively contributing to the institutional consolidation of the scouting movement in the country", adds the note, to which VerAngola had access.
In its message, the regional council also expressed its "deepest condolences to his family, friends, former scouts under his leadership and to the entire national scouting community".
PRA-JA Servir Angola also highlighted his career. In a statement, quoted by Angop, the party acknowledged his role as a tireless man, a genuine intellectual, who always fought for the development of the province, considering that his death represents an inestimable loss for his family and Angola.
