As part of the strengthening of bilateral cooperation between Angola and China, the signing of this legal instrument, which took place in Changsha (China), took place on the sidelines of the Ministerial Conference of Coordinators for the Implementation of the Outcomes of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to which VerAngola had access, this protocol, among other aspects, aims to deepen cooperation in the health area between the two countries.
"At the request of Angola, the Chinese side will be responsible for sending a medical team of twelve members to Angola" in various specialties.
"The Chinese medical team has the mission of exchanging experiences and providing medical assistance (with the exception of forensic medical activities) to the Angolan people, in close collaboration with local health professionals," the statement says.
According to the statement, "both parties should encourage hospitals to establish a cooperative relationship, promote research and academic exchanges, conduct training, and provide free consultations and development of specialties."
In addition to this protocol focused on the health area, the two countries also signed another legal instrument. This is the Framework Agreement on Economic Partnership for Shared Development between the Government of the Republic of Angola and the Government of the People's Republic of China.
Through this agreement, the parties seek to "establish an economic partnership to promote shared development between China and African countries, enhance pragmatic cooperation between China and Africa, and jointly build a China-Africa high-level community with a shared future."
In addition, the aim is also to "achieve sustainable development and inclusive growth, promote the development of African manufacturing industry and agricultural transformation and modernization, improve the competitiveness of African countries in the global market, and support the integration of African countries into the world economy."
"This Framework Agreement also aims to promote international trade and investment in order to play an important role in fostering diversified economic transformation and high-quality development, as well as strengthening the capacity of African countries to produce and export high value-added products," the note reads.
The signing of these two instruments was witnessed by high-ranking officials from the Government of Angola and the Government of China.
