Without giving a specific date for this remote operation, the minister only said that it will be carried out in the next few days, adding that the necessary conditions are currently underway to ensure that the operation takes place without any problems.
The Minister of Health, speaking on the sidelines of the 2nd National Conference on the State of Sanitation in Angola (ANGOLASAN2), cited by Angop, highlighted that this intention is the result of the success of the experimental robotic surgery, carried out at the Cardeal Dom Alexandre do Nascimento Hospital Complex, where the surgeon controlled the robot without being present in the operating room.
Sílvia Lutucuta also considered that robotic surgery has made it possible to transform the treatment of prostate cancer, as well as providing better quality health services.
The country's first robotic surgery was performed in August 2024 by doctor Vipul Patel.
It is worth mentioning that the renowned doctor was received this week by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.
