The room was inaugurated at the Talatona Municipal Administration facilities by the ombudsman, Florbela Rocha Araújo, according to a video released by the Angolan Ombudsman and to which VerAngola had access.

In statements at the opening ceremony, the ombudsman considered that the moment has "historical significance".

"The president of virtual hearings has finally arrived, starting in Talatona and we will move on to other municipalities. This virtual hearings project will operate whenever necessary. In fact, in the first phase, we will have an employee who will come here every other day to listen to the concerns of citizens who wish to raise their concerns", said the ombudsman, quoted in the video.

In a statement, the Angolan Ombudsman clarifies that "virtual hearings emerge as an important tool for bringing the Ombudsman closer to citizens, offering direct and personalized service through digital platforms".

"The service will be available to both citizens residing in Angola and those abroad, ensuring greater accessibility, inclusion and efficiency", adds the provider, in a brief note.

According to a statement from the government of the province of Luanda (GPL), to which VerAngola had access, the opening of this room took place under the motto "The citizen is our concern, the citizen is our occupation. More rights, more citizenship; more citizenship, more rights".

The GPL also explains that this project is based "fundamentally on the provision of Internet services and a free telephone line, allowing citizens to contact the Ombudsman's Office to schedule and hold hearings, making the service more accessible, inclusive and efficient".

In addition to Florbela Rocha Araújo, the event was also attended by the provincial vice-governor for the Political and Social Sector, Manuel António Gonçalves, and the municipal administrator of Talatona, Sandra Caetano Batalha, among others.
