Caixa Fado Festival celebrates 50 years of independence with a luxury lineup

The Caixa Fado Festival returns to the Belas Conference Centre for its 8th edition with the theme “United by History, Together for Freedom”, a direct tribute to the fiftieth anniversary of national independence. The line-up brings together renowned names from Portugal and Angola, in an artistic encounter that reinforces historical ties.

This year's highlight is the Angolans Matias Damásio, Heroide and Ana Bela AYA, who are joined by the Portuguese Camané, Filipa Cardoso, Marco Rodrigues and Ana Sofia Varela. These are big names for an edition that promises to bring together music, fado, culture, celebration and multiculturalism.

Created in 2017, the festival has established itself as a meeting point for lovers of music, culture and the marriage of sounds. In a vibrant multicultural celebration, fado creates a mosaic of Portuguese-speaking and African traditions that merge on stage and create a unique artistic experience.

More than just a show, Caixa Fado is a catalyst for the exchange of artists, audiences and partners who exchange references, ideas and energy.

“This edition promises to remain in the collective memory and generate moments of true cultural sharing”, highlights João Plácido Pires, CEO of Caixa Angola.

“We would like to highlight that the theme ‘United by History, Together for Freedom’ will establish a connection between art and the celebration of freedom, history and cultural identity,” he says.

This celebration encourages dialogue and cooperation and affirms music as a bridge of unity and transformation.

“We are certain that this fusion of sounds will offer everyone an unforgettable, liberating and rewarding experience,” reinforces Marco Rodrigues, artistic director of the festival.
