Taking part in the final of this competition for the second time, Petro didn't have an easy time of it. In the first period of the match – held in Kigali, Rwanda – the score was tied three times (11-11, 14-14 and 17-17), however, Petro managed to turn things around and finish the first period ahead of marker (26-24), refers Angop.
However, this advantage was short-lived, with Petro heading into the break trailing by a difference of 12 points (40-52).
Upon returning to the field, the national team managed to recover slightly, ending the third period tied at 75 points.
In the last quarter of the game, Petro managed to turn things around, with Nicola Faust putting the team ahead on the scoreboard (89-84), writes Angop.
In the end, Petro managed to reach three figures, having scored a total of 107 points against their opponent's 94, thus winning the BAL trophy.
In addition to Petro (who came in first place), the competition's podium is also made up of Al Ahly Benghazi, who came in second place, and Rivers Hoopers (Nigeria), who took third place. Also noteworthy is the Cape Town Tigers, from South Africa, who came in fourth place.
Remember that Petro de Luanda reached the final after beating the Cape Town Tigers in the semi-finals by 96-86.
This is the first BAL trophy that Petro has won, after taking third place in the first edition of the competition (2021), second place in the following edition (2022) and fourth place in the 2023 edition.
