Namibe: 140 more houses increase the housing stock in Moçâmedes

The first stone was laid this Monday to begin the construction of the ‘Tuatuhele’ condominium, in the Praia da Amélia area, in Moçâmedes. The development will feature 140 new homes, 20 of which will be social homes, aimed at low-income families.

This is a private initiative project, which should be completed within 18 months, providing the opportunity to own a home for 140 families, who will be able to choose T3 or T4 typologies, also featuring green areas, an educational space with recreational activities for children, a school , health unit and stores.

The project is part of the housing development strategy of the Provincial Government of Namibe, and the laying of the first stone ceremony was attended by the governor of the province, Archer Mangueira.

When speaking on the occasion, the person responsible highlighted the particularity of the project being carried out in partnership with INEFOP (National Institute of Employment and Professional Training), allowing the inclusion of young people looking for a job.

According to Jornal de Angola, the government official also said that the cost of the houses will be between 15 and 30 million kwanzas, and the owners will have easy access to credit from banks.

On the other hand, two dozen houses will be dedicated to social support: “We have established an important component of social responsibility with the company, which also consists of the construction and urbanization of 20 evolutionary social houses that will be built in the 4 de Março neighborhood, within six months” – stated the governor.

Edson Venâncio, project coordinator, highlighted the creation of more than 200 jobs in the project and assured that once completed, the condominium's equipment will continue to generate jobs in the areas of sanitation, education, health and leisure.

The project, valued at more than two billion kwanzas, will also bring with it an environmental component, which is committed to planting 600 trees in Bairro 4 de Março and 2000 in Urbanização Praia Amélia.

The launch ceremony was attended by, among other guests, the provincial vice-governor for Technical Services and Infrastructure, Ema da Silva, and the municipal administrator of Moçâmedes, José Correia.
