José Ramos-Horta pays state visit to Angola

The President of Timor-Leste, José Ramos-Horta, will carry out state visits in July to Mozambique and Angola, in response to invitations made by his counterparts in both countries.

The trip, which will take place between the 1st and 13th of July, was approved on Tuesday by the Timorese national parliament with 35 votes in favor, 10 against and one abstention.

José Ramos-Horta received in May the letters of credentials from the Angolan ambassador to Timor-Leste, José André de Lemos, the first from the PALOP to open an embassy in the country.

Timor-Leste and Angola have signed several cooperation agreements, the latest in the areas of military assistance and oil.

"The time has come to reinforce this dynamic and exchange between our two countries. Within the scope of these agreements, areas of common interest will now be found and the contribution they could make to an 'upgrade' in the economy of both countries", highlighted in May the ambassador .

Mozambique's ambassador to Timor-Leste and Indonesia, Belmiro José Malate, expressed in February, during a visit to Dili, the country's availability to support the Timorese authorities in training staff and training teachers in the Portuguese language and in the Hydrocarbons.
