The Camões Institute is organizing an event at the Portuguese Cultural Center in Luanda, with an exhibition of products produced by refugees and a screening of the film “As Nadadoras”, which tells the story of Olympic swimmer Yusra Mardini who, in 2015, fled Syria with her sister and crossed the Aegean Sea in a boat with dozens of refugees to reach Europe.
In Portugal, the JRS - Jesuit Refugee Service and the Refugee Support Platform organized an event around the theme “Solidarity without borders, a world without barriers”, which takes place in the late afternoon at the Campolide campus of the University New from Lisbon.
Between the two debate panels on the importance of solidarity in Europe, personalities such as the Secretary of State for Integration and Migration, Isabel Rodrigues, the researcher from the Faculty of Law of Universidade Nova, Emellin de Oliveira, representatives of other non-governmental governments and refugees.
In Cascais, the Helpo Association will deliver 64 food baskets to Ukrainian, Syrian and Afghan refugee families in the municipality.
