The post had been vacant, in the case of the Court of Auditors, since March, when the previous president, the advisory judge Exalgina Gambôa, resigned after being constituted accused on suspicion of crimes of embezzlement, extortion and corruption.

The vacancy at the BNA lasted just one week, since the previous governor, José de Lima Massano left – exonerated, in a first version of the communiqué, and later at his request, in a second version – to become the new Minister of State and Economic Coordination.

Sebastião Domingos Gunza was, until now, inspector general of the State Administration and was appointed with four other judges - Sebastião Diogo Bessa, Manuel da Cruz Neto, Armindo Gideão Kunjiquisse Jelembe and Januário José Domingos - to fill five vacancies of judges of the Court of Auditors, in accordance with the order of final tabulation of the results of the public tender.

Manuel Tiago Dias, who was consulted on Friday and received a favorable opinion from the National Assembly, was deputy governor of the National Bank of Angola and current interim governor.

The President also appointed Carlos Alberto Cavuquila to the position of Counselor Judge of the Supreme Court, as recommended by the Superior Council for the Judiciary.

Carlos Cavuquila was convicted in a case involving public funds, still in the court's execution phase, and has another case still in progress, which led the plenary of the Court of Auditors to block his appointment as vice-president of the competition jury curriculum to fill the vacancies of the five advisory judges of this body.
