The President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, on an official visit to Angola, attended, with his Angolan counterpart, the signing of the two legal instruments, framed in the strengthening of cooperation between Luanda and Cairo.

The memorandum of understanding on cooperation in matters of security and public order was signed, at the Presidential Palace, by the Minister of the Interior, Eugénio Laborinho, and by the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sameh Shukri.

The head of Egyptian diplomacy also signed the memorandum of understanding for technical assistance on groundwater, to be materialized by Egypt's Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, while João Baptista Borges, Minister of Energy and Water, was the other signatory.

Reinforcing bilateral relations is the motto of the Egyptian President's visit to Angola, who upon arrival at the Presidential Palace, in Luanda, was received with military honors and subsequently met with João Lourenço.

For the Minister of Energy and Water, the signed memorandum embodies a commitment in relation to the water sector and Angola should benefit greatly from Egypt's experience in building canals and irrigation systems.

"As you know, this is a country that has the Nile river as its water resources and has a great experience in the construction of hydraulic systems and we really want to benefit from this experience", said João Baptista Borges.

Minister Eugénio Laborinho also pointed out in the agreement signed in the field of security and internal order, that some Angolan students are in Egypt undergoing training in the Arabic language to "facilitate cooperation".

The ties of friendship and cooperation between Angola and Egypt were formalized on February 18, 1976 and both countries have signed several agreements in different sectors.

Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who arrived in Luanda on Tuesday night accompanied by a ministerial delegation, leaves the capital this Wednesday.
