The information was transmitted by the Minister of Health, Sílvia Lutucuta, stating that "unfortunately" the new variants reached the provinces of Bengo (2 cases), Cabinda (1 case), Cuanza Norte (7 cases), Cuanza Sul (2 cases), Cunene (5 cases), Huíla (13 cases), Huambo (4 cases) and Malanje (1 case).
Angola has two variants of covid-19, South African and English, and Luanda records the community circulation of the new strains and the majority, 70 percent, of the cases of the new variants in Luanda are of the English strain.
In a press conference, this Monday in Luanda, the authorities announced the extension of the situation of public calamity in the country for another 30 days, from the 9th of June to the 8th of July.
