The information was provided by the administrator of the municipality of Quilengues, Adriano Pedro, a region where the exploration of the rare superconducting material used in the space industry took place for two years, which will be explored for the first time in that area of the country.
Adriano Pedro, quoted by Angop, said that niobium is one of the rarest minerals in the world, used for the manufacture of turbines, spaceships, airplanes, missiles, the electronics industry and power plants, as well as for the production of steel alloys or superconductors.
The Quilengues concession, covering 160 square kilometers, located in the Carbonatito complex in Bonga and Tchivira, will be operated by the Niobonga company in partnership with Ferrangol.
In the prospecting phase, the quality of the ore was confirmed, already certified by the authorities of the province of Huíla.
The official stressed that, when the project is started, the region will benefit from improvements, within the scope of the company's social responsibility, in terms of the exploration of niobium deposits, an ore of strategic interest.
