The two men, aged 27 and 28, employees of an airport service company, were arrested following a complaint filed by the passenger, a 73-year-old Portuguese-Angolan who had forgotten his belongings after the TAAG flight, which was due to travel to Lisbon, was cancelled.
“It should be noted that the investigative work carried out made it possible to recover the amount of 3,260 euros and 178,000 kwanzas, which had already been distributed, from the possession of these employees,” said the SIC in a statement.
Authorities are still continuing their efforts to investigate the facts and arrest others involved.
On Friday, TAAG announced the cancellation of the Luanda-Lisbon-Luanda flight “for technical reasons related to the equipment”, having re-accommodated passengers on the following flights.
