According to a brief note from the Presidency of the Republic, to which VerAngola had access, the meeting took place on Wednesday morning at the Presidential Palace.
"Toru Suzuki was at the Presidential Palace to pay his farewell greetings to the Angolan head of state, before leaving Luanda after two and a half years of work at the head of his country's embassy", the note reads.
At the time, in statements to the press, cited by Rádio Nacional de Angola (RNA), the outgoing diplomat said that they had discussed "some projects, in relation to energy" and economic relations.
"We talked about some projects, in relation to energy and also the general situation regarding the economic relationship between the two countries", he highlighted.
The Japanese diplomat also expressed dissatisfaction with the current trade scenario. "At this moment I do not have an exact number, but we are not satisfied with the current situation regarding the trade balance, considering the power that we have in bilateral relations".
The ambassador also said that he invited João Lourenço to attend the Tokyo International Conference on African Development - (TICAD 2025), scheduled for August of this year in Japan.
"(...) TICAD will take place in August of this year. We are very eager to welcome President João Lourenço to this conference, not only as the president of Angola, but also as the president of the African Union", he said, quoted by RNA.
