According to a statement from ANPG, to which VerAngola had access, the ceremony took place in Luanda and was attended by figures such as the Secretary of State for Oil and Gas, José Barroso.

The signing of the service contract with risk related to the concession area of block CON4 aims to consolidate the objectives set out in the National Development Plan 2023-2027. "This strategic step aims to consolidate the objectives defined in the National Development Plan 2023–2027, ensuring the sustainability of oil production, the efficient use of natural gas resources and the maintenance of national production levels", says the note.

On the occasion, the Secretary of State for Oil and Gas, José Barroso, highlighted the fact that the consortium is formed by national companies.

"This contract reaffirms the Angolan government's vision of maintaining Angola as an attractive destination for oil investment. Fortunately, it is a good example, because local content is important for job creation, especially for young Angolans, who in this way end up acquiring experience and specific training both nationally and internationally," he pointed out.

Paulino Jerónimo, Chairman of the Board of Directors (PCA) of ANPG, considered that "the signing of this contract establishes the basis for carrying out geophysical and geological studies of the region."

"These studies are crucial for a rigorous technical assessment of the region's hydrocarbon potential. All activities will be conducted in strict compliance with national and international environmental standards, ensuring the preservation of ecosystems," he said, quoted in the note.

In turn, Edson Santos, Chairman of the Executive Committee of ETU Energias, speaking on behalf of the consortium, highlighted the importance of this project.

"The entry of Etu Energias into the CON4 block represents yet another vote of confidence from the Angolan State and our partners in the company's ability to lead operations safely, efficiently and profitably. The proximity of this block to other concessions already operated by Etu Energias will allow for significant synergies, accelerating the start of exploration activities," he said, quoted in the statement.

According to the ANPG note, the "consortium responsible for the block is led by ETU Energias, with a 67.50 percent stake, and includes Sonangol Pesquisa & Produção (20.00 percent) and Gesprocon (12.50 percent)."
