The information was provided by the press services of the President of the Republic, who clarified that João Lourenço also aims to find out about the region's economic situation, under the Open Presidency program.

The head of state leaves Namibe on Sunday and returns to Luanda after the provincial government meeting.

This Thursday, the President received the Crown Prince of the Sultanate of Oman in an audience, headed by Crown Prince Sayyid The-Yazin Haitham Al Said. After the meeting, no statements were made to the press.

Just this week, the head of state was invited to participate in the investiture ceremony of Nayib Bukele, President of El Salvador, which takes place on June 1st. The invitation was delivered to the permanent representative of Angola at the United Nations, Francisco José da Cruz, by the permanent representative of El Salvador, Egriselda López.

About Namibe

Remember that Namibe is located in the southwest corner of Angola, with a coastline of 160 kilometers along the Atlantic Ocean. In the opposite direction, its central sands are bordered by mountains over 2000 meters high.

Another of the province's highlights is Iona, a wild area with terrestrial and marine ecosystems. The Iona National Park stands out, part of a transboundary conservation area with the Skeleton Coast National Park, in Namibia. Bounded by two rivers – the Cunene and the Curoca – the park has extensive forests where cheetahs, leopards, oryxes, gazelles, zebras, ostriches and reptiles live, and is also the main habitat of one of the oldest plants in the world, the Welwischia Mirabilis . The park even had elephants and rhinos, but these two species have left the area.
