João Lourenço speaks at the opening of the US-Africa Business Summit

The President of the Republic is in the United States of America where this Tuesday he will speak at the opening ceremony of what will be the 16th US-Africa Business Summit.

According to the program of the event - which takes place in Dallas, in the state of Texas - João Lourenço will be the sixth to speak, with the event presided over by Florie Liser, president of the Corporate Council in Africa, the organizer of the summit.

The Angolan head of state also has two interventions planned in the High Level Dialogue panels on Investment and Strategic Infrastructures and Sustainable Growth and on the Energy Future in Africa.

The summit will be dedicated, for four days, to finding solutions to boost commercial cooperation between Africans and North Americans. In addition to the Angolan PR, the heads of state from Liberia, Joseph Boakai, from Malawi, Lazarus Chakwera, from Botswana, Mokgweetsi Masisi, from Cape Verde, José Maria Neves, from Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi and from Nigeria, Bola Tinubu. The presence of Nthomeng Majara, deputy prime minister of Lesotho, Muhammad BS Jallow, vice president of The Gambia and David Sengeh, chief minister of Sierra Leone, is also expected to be present.

Several ministers from the areas of Commerce, Health, ICT, Energy, Investments and Agriculture from Angola, Botswana, Côte d'Ivoire, Cape Verde, Morocco, Zambia, among others, will also participate, as well as a delegation from the United Nations.

The summit will be marked by plenary sessions and thematic panels, focusing on different sectors such as agribusiness, finance, energy, health, infrastructure, ICT, creative industries and others, says Angop.

The main objective of the meeting is to enable African leaders to directly contact decision-makers from Governments and the private sector, in order to promote sustainable business partnerships between the US and Africans.
