Petro debuts against Senegalese team AS Douanes in the BAL semi-final

The Angolans from Petro de Luanda continue their – so far successful – journey in the African Basketball League (BAL), facing this Wednesday for the first time the AS Dounares team, originally from Senegal.

:

The semi-final game is scheduled for 17:00 local time in Kigali, Rwanda (one hour less in Luanda).

The challenge pits the Angolan team against the Senegalese team from AS Dounares, two teams that have never met before in official competitions, thus making the result somewhat unpredictable, according to the ANGOP special envoy.

However, after last Sunday Petro achieved a hard-fought victory against ABC da Côte D'Ivoire (88-84), AS Douanes is coming off a quieter match, where they defeated Ferroviário da Beira (Mozambique) without difficulty. for a comfortable 93-73.

The teams still differ in the qualifying conferences, with Petro reaching the final stage from Cairo (Egypt), where they added five victories and finished at the top of the group. The Senegalese, on the other hand, disputed access at home, in the Dakar, having won three of the five matches played, qualifying in second place in the group.

In the African Basketball League, AS Douanes' best performance was the quarter-finals in the first edition (2021), where they lost to the Tunisian Monastir by 62-82.

Petro, on the other hand, reached third place in the inaugural year, having been runner-up in the last edition, from which the Senegalese were absent, as they let the title of national champion slip to Dakar Universite Clube.

Both previous editions' winners – Egypt's Zamalek and Tunisia's Monastir – are absent from this year's finals.
