The highlights go to the gold winners, with Silvério Manuel 'stealing' the first place on the podium from Mozambican Mason Cohen, in the 100 meter breaststroke category. Bronze was awarded to Namibian Liam Kinnaird. The Angolan completed the race in 2.54.13.
In the 50 meters butterfly, Marco Furtado stood out with his 29.02, having beaten fellow Namibian Lorenzo Esterhuizen and Mozambican Abdul dos Santos. In the last competition, held in Zambia in 2022, the Angolan had not gone beyond bronze.
In the 200-metre freestyle, swimmer Henrique Mascarenhas beat the competition, with 1.56.50. In second place was the athlete Kaio Faftine, from Mozambique, followed by the representative of Namibia, Marco Henning, who took home the bronze.
In the female category, Nyriam Morais stood out, winning her first medal, reaching the other 50-metre butterfly. The clock marked 30.99 for the Angolan swimmer, who had left the previous competition without any place on the podium. The second place went to the also Angolan Stephanie Jurado, while Melodi Saleshando, from Botswana, secured the third position.
In the combined categories, the national team was once again in the spotlight, namely in the men's 4x100-metre freestyle (3.36.05) and women's (4.14.14).
For the morning of this Friday, the middle distance test is planned in the 400 meters freestyle, the 100 meters breaststroke and butterfly and the 50 meters backstroke and free.
