Angola hopes that business forum in Portugal will bring “very concrete results”

The Minister of State for Economic Coordination hopes that the business forum to be held this month in Portugal, before the Portuguese Prime Minister's visit to Angola, will bring "very concrete results" for both countries.

:

“As part of the preparation of the visit of the Prime Minister of Portugal to Angola, which is scheduled for the month of June, a business forum for entrepreneurs is being organized between the two investment agencies, both Angola and Portugal. Angolans and Portuguese businessmen that will take place in Portugal”, said Manuel Nunes Júnior, speaking to the Lusa agency.

Manuel Nunes Júnior stressed that the city where the forum will take place, between Lisbon and Porto, has yet to be defined, but he stressed that the event is being organised, which aims to “make relations between Angola and Portugal, from the point of view entrepreneurial, more intense, deeper”.

“They already are, but basically it is to make this effort that we are making to diversify the economy more operational and Portugal can play a very important role, especially in small and medium-sized companies. This is important,” he said.

The official highlighted as areas of interest those involving the real economy, "that part of the production of goods and services", namely agriculture, manufacturing industry, fisheries and tourism.

“All these areas will be considered in this forum, which I hope will bring very concrete results between Portugal and Angola”, he stressed.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal, João Gomes Cravinho, who was in Luanda on Tuesday leading the Portuguese delegation that participated in the 3rd plenary session of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission between Angola and Portugal, highlighted the importance that will be given to the economic part during the visit of the head of the Portuguese Government, António Costa.

João Gomes Cravinho said that holding the forum was “very motivating for Portuguese companies that want to come to Angola”.

During the visit of the Portuguese prime minister, the signing of several legal instruments is expected, according to the final communiqué of the meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission Angola - Portugal, among which stands out the Strategic Cooperation Program Portugal - Angola 2023-2027 .

Cooperation between Lisbon and Luanda already has around 50 legal instruments signed in the last five years, stressed João Gomes Cravinho at the meeting, a sign of the “intensity of the relationship” between the two countries.
