"Expectations are the highest. President Lula has already indicated that he wants Angola to be the first country in Africa to be visited due to the nature of the bilateral relationship, due to the role of Angola, which is the gateway for Brazil's policy for Africa, for the historical and economic weight of the relationship", Rafael Vidal told Lusa.
The diplomat said that a series of agreements are being prepared in the area of sustainable tourism and defense, namely the training and qualification of Angolan troops to integrate the United Nations rapid intervention forces in Africa, as well as agreements in the maritime transport sector. land and instruments for implementing the cooperation agreement in the area of irrigated agriculture.
"With the assumption of the new Government, there is an interest in enabling, facilitating, promoting the internationalization of Brazilian companies with the present economic and social bias. This is a differentiating factor of the new Government, that the actions of companies are connected with development strategies ", stressed the Brazilian ambassador.
The notion that the State should be a promoter of development along with the private sector, intervening not only as a regulator, but also in the design of policies that allow the private sector to be an international policy tool consistent with expectations of poverty reduction and food insecurity, are some of the axes of this orientation.
"We cannot grow, develop ourselves, if our regional environment does not develop together", he reinforced.
Rafael Vidal stressed that currently operating in the Angolan market are Brazilian and Angolan-Brazilian companies with international projection and diversified sectors.
These include Odebrecht (OEC) and Queiroz Galvão, in the construction sector, the Costa Negócios group, which is developing a factory to exploit pig iron (used in steel production), EuroFarma, which is building a medicine factory, as well as the VMD and Gemcorp groups of businessman Valdomiro Minoru Dondo.
The Brazilian community in Angola currently has around 15 to 20 thousand people, according to embassy estimates.
