In a statement, the ZEE Luanda-Bengo announces that to formalize this support, the chairman of its board of directors, Manuel Francisco Pedro, signed a memorandum of understanding on Tuesday with Cimalsa, a company owned by the autonomous government of Catalonia.

Cimalsa "has specialized for the last 30 years in promoting, developing and managing infrastructures and centers for the transport of goods, logistics and mobility" and "will collaborate in the transition process of the Luanda-Bengo ZEE to a free zone", it is signaled in the note.

The agreement lasts for four years and, according to the ZEE Luanda-Bengo, "the knowledge and experience" of the Catalan company "could be of crucial importance in the establishment of technical, administrative and legal procedures, in the transformation of the ZEE into a free zone , which is, moreover, the main priority" of the administration of the Angolan entity.

During his work trip to Barcelona, Manuel Francisco Pedro also has on his agenda a visit to the port of Barcelona and a meeting with the heads of the BAC Engineering Consultancy Group, a company belonging to the multinational Socotec group which, according to the statement, "acts mainly in the urban and industrial management, civil engineering and profitability of renewable energies, with reduced carbon emissions".

"This business mission is in line with the objectives of the board of directors of the ZEE, with a view to attracting potential partners to boost the current projects underway in the ZEE Luanda-Bengo", concludes the note.
