AIPEX registered more than 500 projects valued at 11 billion dollars

The Private Investment and Export Promotion Agency (AIPEX) has registered, since 2018, more than 500 investment projects valued at around 11 billion dollars. The information was advanced, this Tuesday, by Lello Francisco, chairman of the Board of Directors (PCA) of AIPEX.

:

"AIPEX has been created since 2018, to date we have registered a total of 581 investment projects that are valued at around 11 billion dollars", said the official, speaking at the ninth edition of 'Café CIPRA'.

According to the agency's PCA, of the total number of registered projects, around 169 have already been "effectively implemented".

"Of these registered projects, around 169 investment projects are effectively implemented and here the great news is in fact that most of the projects registered and implemented are projects in the industry segment", he advanced.

In terms of jobs, the official informed that the projects already implemented had generated around 12 thousand jobs, however, the perspective is to reach around 54 thousand jobs with the total implementation of the projects. "If we look at the subject, in this period we have registered around 54/55 thousand direct jobs for these projects, which these projects naturally with the implementation should create, and today of those already implemented we have about almost 12 thousand jobs verified jobs", he said.

On the occasion, Lello Francisco referred that of the projects implemented, around 12 percent concern the food processing industry sector. "I must also highlight the fact that we have already witnessed, over the last five/six years, a migration of investors who initially entered the commerce sector and today these investors have moved to the industrial sector", he added.

The official also made it known that there are "about 400 projects in the implementation phase", which shows a growth rate of two percent of projects being implemented.

It should also be noted that, also speaking at the meeting, the Minister of Economy and Planning made it known that 75 thousand jobs were generated with the implementation of the Program to Support Production, Diversification of Exports and Substitution of Imports (Prodesi), since the restructuring in 2019. "Since we decided to speed up all the work around Prodesi (...), with funding for the most diverse small, medium and large companies, we managed to create around 75,000 jobs", he said.

The theme of the event was "Industry and the Promotion of Employability" and was attended by the ministers of Industry and Commerce, Victor Fernandes, and of Economy and Planning, Mário João Caetano, as well as the executive director of the Special Economic Zone (ZEE), Adriano Celso Borja, and AIPEX CEO, Lello Francisco.
